The Club caters for .22 target rifle (prone, rimfire) and air pistol (.177) and air rifle (.177); we do not cater for any other class of firearm. Recently we have introduced .177 benchrest air rifle. Competitions are available for everyone irrespective of ability. Leagues are organised on a division basis so you compete against others of a comparable standard.
Competitions are organised on a team and individual basis. Some are shoulder to shoulder matches where members of other clubs visit BCRC to shoot against our teams and vice versa. At the start of each season, members are asked to indicate the competitions they wish to enter.
Teams are arranged according to average, so members shoot in a team with people of similar standard and against teams of equal ability. The club also organises a number of internal competitions shot throughout the year. Information elsewhere on this site. The .22 prone rifle is predominantly a winter sport, October to March.
A few members compete during the summer months in the Perth, Cumbria or postal leagues. Air weapons shooting takes place throughout the year; the range is less busy and tuition is easier during summer months. The Club holds an open meeting where competitors attend from all over Scotland and North England. This takes places one weekend in November.
